Join me on a journey to Pompeii, where the past unfolds in fascinating detail, telling stories of a civilization's rise, fall, and the indelible mark it left behind.

Important Things to Know
1) Bring lots of water with you
There is only one store in the ruins and the line up gets massive. It is definitely easier to just bring a reusable water bottle, and fill up at one of the taps.
2) And a hat and sunscreen
The hot Italian sun absolutely bounces off the city ruins. We were melting to say the least haha. Make sure to pack a hat and lots of sunscreen.
3) The train stops right at the archeological site (The bus stop does not lol)
The train line conveniently stops right at the archeological site so if you are taking the train from Naples or Sorrento, you can easily hop off right at the site. However we took a bus, which dropped us off quite far from the site lol. We had to hop on a public bus, which are very inconsistent and scarce here lol and take it to the site.
4) The site is MASSIVE so if you want to see it all, allocate a lot of time
We spent quite a few hours at Pompeii and we barely scratched the surface. This city is huge and you could easily spend an entire day or more wandering around.

This is barely a fraction of the entire site!
Transportation
As I mentioned before, we took the bus from Naples to Pompeii. We then hopped on a public bus to get to the archeological site. After we explored Pompeii, we hopped on the Circumvesuviana Train to Sorrento. For my blog on the charming coastal town of Sorrento, click here.
Luggage
Pompeii actually has free luggage storage which is sooo helpful if you’re just making a pit stop like we were. However the lockers are small, they just fit our carry on backpacks so if you have big wheely suitcases I don’t think this will work haha.
Tickets
We bought tickets there because luckily there was no line, however in the busy season I would recommend just buying your tickets ahead online. At the ticket booth they will give you a free map as well that will help you navigate the ruins.

Pompeii's preserved ruins provide a captivating glimpse into a society long gone, reminding us of the impermanence of human existence while offering an invaluable link to our ancient past. Walking its streets and exploring its remnants is a humbling experience that stirs reflection on the passage of time and the enduring echoes of history.
